Even in these troubled times, voters want to protect the environment. Republicans, Independents, and Democrats can agree on that, even if our leaders cannot. Our water, air and natural areas are not pawns in the political game that is being waged in Washington and Springfield. With new electoral maps for Congress and Illinois General Assembly, 2012 will offer great opportunities for upgrading our elected officials. New districts will mean open seats and contested races that give us a chance to elect new environmentalists to office, and rare opportunities to defeat anti-environment incumbents.
Don't let the radicals that demonize science and want to shackle us to coal for 30 more years drown out your voice this election. Vote for the environment on November 6th and send a message that clean air, clean water and our special places are a winning issue in 2012.
