Sierra Club members are active citizens. Our democracy gives us the opportunity to make the changes needed to protect our future, but only if we use our rights. We make our voices heard to those who represent us at village hall, the State Capitol, and in Washington.
Of course, the quality and commitment of our elected leaders makes a huge difference in the success of these efforts. That's why Sierra Club volunteers work hard to elect environmental champions. Every year, our volunteers ask the tough questions of candidates, research their records and for candidates that meet our standards make an endorsement.
Our endorsement process is a grassroots one. It begins with Sierra Club leaders in your region, and their recommendations must be finalized by our state Chapter. Many of our local leaders are attempting to get endorsements completed earlier in the season so they can be an active part of local campaigns. We do not make endorsements in all races. Please be advised, in the condensed primary season we attempt to prioritize races where a primary challenge exists, and as time permits we consider races for the general. If you return a questionnaire in the primary, your responses will be retained and no further action is needed for endorsement consideration in the general. Please contact Jen Hensley at email@example.com with questions.
Congress: Please return completed questionnaires with subject line "Congressional Questionnaire" to Jennifer.Hensley@sierraclub.org in the following format: district number_first initial, last name. Example: 7_jhensley
