The Shawnee Group is governed by an Executive Committee (ExCom) that is elected annually in December by the membership. Members also vote by secret ballot on board members of the parent Sierra Club.  EXCOM members vote on all financial, administrative, and political issues that are within the scope of the local group. The group operates in accordance with approved bylaws.

Sierra Club Mississippi River EcoRegion Task Force

Regional Conservation Committees coordinate Sierra Club policy and activities at a regional level in areas that affect more than one Chapter or state. Volunteers represent each Chapter in the region and work to integrate eco-regions into the Club's overall conservation strategies and goals.

  •  The Shawnee Group always needs volunteers to work on a variety of projects: 

    • Organizing Group Outings

    • Conducting research

    • Making a presentation at a membership meeting

    • Constructing a traveling, educational display

    • Writing to elected and government agency representatives

    • Conducting a local fundraising project

    • Developing content for the Group's website.

    • Writing articles for the monthly newsletter: Shawnee Trails

    • Folding and mailing the monthly newsletter. Contact the Editor.
