Seeking Executive Committee Candidates

Nominees are being sought for election to the Illinois Chapter Executive Committee (ExCom).  The next election will be held in the fourth quarter of 2012.  The ExCom, which manages the affairs of the Illinois Chapter, is comprised of nine members elected at-large from around the state along with one member from each of the Chapter’s 15 local groups.  Five at-large positions will be filled in the next election to serve on the ExCom for a two-year term beginning in January 2013.  The Nominating Committee will attempt to nominate at least two more candidates than the number of positions to be filled.
     If you want to be considered for nomination, or propose someone as a nominee, each nominee must be a Chapter member in good standing and give his or her consent.  Nominee names must be submitted by July 14, 2012 at twnstr111@msn.com, or to Connie Schmidt at Sierra Club, 70 E Lake Street, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60601.
     In addition to the candidates nominated by the Nominating Committee, the name of any Chapter member proposed by a petition of 15 Chapter members will appear on the ballot, provided the petition and the candidate’s statement of consent is submitted by July 14, 2012 to Connie Schmidt at Sierra Club, 70 E Lake Street, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60601.
