Volunteer
The
Northwest Cook County Group (NWCCG) is managed by volunteers. An executive
commitee (ex com) of several elected members meets once a month to
plan club events and manage the club’s day-to-day business. Ex
com members are elected to one to two year terms by the membership
of the group, which is approximately 2,000 members. Ex com meetings
are open to all members who are interested in volunteering their time.
The NWCCG needs volunteers for a variety of projects. You can volunteer your
time informally by coming to a conservation workday, letter writing party, or
simply by baking some cookies for our monthly program meetings. A great way to
get started volunteering with the NWCCG is to attend one of our monthly program
meetings. Program meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month (except
for July and August) at Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary at 1111 East Schaumburg
Road (on Schaumburg Road, just west of Meacham Road) in Schaumburg (Yahoo
Map). Meetings
start at 7:00 p.m. with refreshments and snacks and at 7:30 p.m. we have a guest
speaker or special program. Ex com members are present at every meeting and will
be happy to talk to you about volunteer opportunities with the NWCCG.
A volunteer interest
survey is also available for you to fill out to help you get started
volunteering with the NWCCG. The volunteer interest survey is available in a
PDF format and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader is a free download
and is available at www.adobe.com
