Welcome to the Northwest Cook County Group Website!

The Northwest Cook County Group (NWCCG) is a local group of the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club. The Sierra Club is America’s oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. Founded in 1892 by John Muir and other supporters, the Sierra Club’s goal is to explore, enjoy and protect the planet. Upcoming Events
Our program meetings are taking a summer break for July and August but we hope you'll join us at our next upcoming event on Saturday, July 11 for a pizza party at John's Pizzeria in Addison. See our events page for more information. Monthly program meetings will resume on September 10, check back later for program information.

Don't forget to check out our outings page for a trip list of backpacking, canoeing, biking, hiking, skiing, and other events. Trips are added frequently so check back often!

Volunteers Needed!
The NWCCG is run entirely by volunteers. We are always in need for volunteers to help us with a variety of efforts. One effort in particular that needs help is our water-monitoring program in conjunction with Ducks Unlimited. Please contact Greg Stolzer at gpstolzer@hotmail.com. Letter from Melissa Bean
Congresswomen Melissa Bean spoke at our Earth Day event back in April and wrote a nice letter to Barbara Hill, who helped coordinate this event, that she wanted to share with you:

"Dear Ms. Hill:

Thank you for the opportunity to celebrate Earth Day with you and all the other volunteers at the Spring Creek Forest Preserve on April 25th.

My nephews and I very much enjoyed the working to restore the Spring Creek Forest Preserve, the fresh air, and the company of the other volunteers. I hope to continue the dialog with you regarding environmental and other issues.
